Why Champions League is Deemed as One Of The Most Prestigious European Football Tournament

 

There are Thirty two teams from various European leagues that participate in the football contest called Champions League. The Union of European Football Association (EUFA) has organized it in 1992 for the purpose of changing the European Cup. This contest is being held in mid-July and also culminates in May yearly. The final match will be held during the culminating period of the Champions League, and this normally happens after the winter break.

The European Champion Club’s Trophy is awarded to the winning team of the Champion’s League, and this is has been used since 1967. The trophy is made of silver, and weighs 11 kilogram. The original prize was provided to Real Madrid in 1966 because they already won a total of 6 tournaments then. As of today, Real Madrid still stays as the most successful club having a total of 9 wins. A replica of the trophy is also provided to groups who won for 3 consecutive years, and to those who currently have a total of 5 wins. Aside from Real Madrid, this honour was earned by Liverpool, Milan, Bayern Munich, and Ajax.

For those teams who have entered the first qualifying round, they'll be able to obtain cash prizes and also bigger prizes whenever they proceed to the next round. As of the moment, the cash prize for the winning finalist is €10,500,000. The runner-up finalist will be given a cash prize amounting to €6,500,000. The Champions League is sponsored by several firms from various nations.
